When the Beavers came to visit...

 

When the Beavers came to visit …. an evening to remember.

On the wintry evening of 9th March, the local Beavers arrived at the library in ones and twos.  There were not many of them, compared to our school visit numbers, but they filled the library with their chatter, comments and questions, eager to take part in all the activities on
offer.

The evening had a dinosaur theme, as everyone likes dinosaurs.  They designed book covers and made bookmarks for their Book Lover’s badge, coloured dinosaur pictures and made dinosaur models.  Then they had a pirate dinosaur story (they are excellent at roaring) before having an opportunity to browse the shelves and borrow some books to take home. 


One or two took joining forms – we hope to see them again soon to sign up and collect the books they chose.

Beavers with a  Library Visit Record Card (currently those in Years 1 and 2 attending Robert Arkenstall School) were able to add another stamp towards their 5 visit certificate.

 

Book Club

Our friendly Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the Library at 3.30pm. We welcome anyone who enjoys reading and likes
talking about books. We don't do 'lit crit' but we discuss why we like/didn't like the book choice. We exchange tips on recent reads that we think others might enjoy, and then wander on to a wide range of subjects. You don't have to buy the books – we take turns to choose a book from a Cambridgeshire Libraries multi-copy list. Upcoming read:

Our next book is Nicola Upson's 1930s Cambridge-set 'Nine Lessons' which is the 7th in her series of mysteries featuring real-life crime writer Josephine Tey (1896–1952). All are welcome, and we will provide a copy of the book.  We will be meeting in the library to discuss it on Tuesday 17th March at 3.30pm.
