School Visit Report - March 2026

On Thursday 19 March the library hosted visits from Star and Sun classes. These were the same children that visited before Christmas, Reception and Year 1, but this time we had a theme of ‘Moving Vehicles’.

They listened to a story and made lolly stick puppets on the theme, and had a chance to look at some stories and non-fiction books about vehicles.  They seem to have good imaginative skills – one child had definitely seen a blue elephant driving a car, another had seen a mouse on a quad bike, and apparently lots of them have been to the moon!

It was great to see them enjoying their story and activities.  They all joined in with enthusiasm, with a few sticky fingers acquired along the way.  Their craft work was taken back to school for them to take home at the end of the day.

On Tuesday 24 March we welcomed another 2 classes, Comet and Moon (Years 1 & 2).  The children produced some very colourful vehicles, as seen in the photo.  Some of them even coloured in their own sticks.  There were lots of comments about favourite colours - pink and purple got the most votes.  They enjoyed looking at the ‘moving vehicle’ books once they had finished their lolly stick craft.  An added bonus was the tidying up – done without prompting or fuss.  Many thanks to the children concerned.

And, very importantly, they listened to stories read by our volunteers.

Several children gained a final stamp on their school/library visit visit cards, for either 5 or 10 visits.  These were sent back to school, in time for them to receive their certificates before the end of term.
